SEO Built Around the Legal Work You Actually Want More Of
BSD Legal Marketing is a UK SEO agency for law firms and legal businesses. We help firms improve their visibility across Google and AI search, attract more relevant visitors and turn that visibility into enquiries.
We work exclusively within the legal sector, so our approach starts with understanding the work your firm actually wants more of. We don’t begin by deciding how many articles we can publish or how many keywords we can add to a report. We look at your services, competitors, current visibility and the way potential clients search for legal help.
Our SEO services for law firms can include keyword research, content, technical SEO, service and location pages, local SEO, internal linking, website improvements and conversion reviews. Where appropriate, SEO can also work alongside PPC and wider digital marketing.
The aim is to help more of the right people find your firm when they need the legal services you provide, rather than simply focusing on rankings.
Trusted by Legal Sector Specialists
BSD Legal Marketing is trusted by Greener Costs, Annecto Legal, Clerk&Counsel, Recovery First, Legal Practice Support (LPS), ARC Costs and many more legal sector specialists.
Law Firm SEO Measured Against Enquiries, Not Just Rankings
Traffic, impressions and keyword positions are useful indicators, but none of them tells you whether your marketing is actually generating the work you want.
One personal injury law firm we work with was receiving around nine to ten enquiries per month through its website when we started. Following work across SEO, PPC and AI search optimisation, it now regularly receives more than 50 website enquiries per month.
For specialist legal costs business Greener Costs, SEO and PPC contributed to an increase in website traffic of approximately 300%.
We also worked with Clerk & Counsel from the launch of its website. SEO was built into the site from the beginning rather than added afterwards. Within a few months, the website had grown to more than 2,000 visitors in a month and around five to six enquiries per day without paid advertising.
Those case studies involve very different businesses, so the strategies behind them were different too. That’s how we believe law firm SEO should work.
SEO Should Start With the Work You Want
One of the first questions we ask a new client is, what type of work do you actually want more of?
A family law practice may want more privately funded financial remedy work rather than simply “more family enquiries”. A criminal firm might want to increase private motoring instructions, while a commercial practice may want a small number of high-value disputes.
This distinction should influence the entire SEO strategy.
There is little value in reaching the top of the search results for a service the firm doesn’t want to grow. Equally, the keyword with the highest search volume is not automatically the most valuable. A more specific search used by somebody actively looking to instruct a solicitor can be far more commercially useful.
Our SEO strategies therefore start with the firm’s priorities and work backwards.

A Specialist Law Firm SEO Agency
A general SEO agency may be able to carry out keyword research or identify technical problems, but legal marketing comes with its own challenges.
Different practice areas have completely different client journeys, competition and matter values. A personal injury firm may be competing with claims management companies and external lead providers. A family firm may need to distinguish between publicly and privately funded enquiries. A legal costs business may be targeting solicitors rather than members of the public.
BSD Legal Marketing was established in 2020 with a focus on marketing within the legal sector. Since then, we have worked with law firms, barristers and specialist legal businesses across a wide range of practice areas, helping them use SEO, content, PPC and their websites to generate more of the work they actually want.
BSD Legal Marketing works exclusively with law firms, barristers and businesses operating within the legal sector. Our Director, Stacey Horrocks, has a law degree and began her career handling legal cases before moving into marketing.
That background means we understand both the business trying to generate instructions and the person trying to find a solicitor.

SEO Is More Than Publishing Blog Posts
A blog post can be useful when it answers a genuine client question or supports an important service, but publishing more content won’t fix a website with weak service pages, technical problems or a poor structure.
Some of the strongest SEO opportunities we find already exist on the client’s website.
A page might rank on page two and need improving rather than replacing. Useful articles may exist but have no internal links pointing towards the relevant service. Several pages may be competing for the same search, or important pages may not be properly indexed.
Our work therefore includes content where it is needed, but also improving the assets you already have.
Ready to transform your legal business?
Technical and On-Page SEO
A law firm website needs to work properly for both users and search engines.
Our technical SEO work can include reviewing indexing, crawlability, site speed, mobile performance, redirects, broken links, duplicate pages, structured data and site architecture.
We also consider on-page SEO, including headings, titles, search intent, content structure, internal links and metadata.
But optimisation should never mean forcing the same keyword into a page repeatedly. If somebody lands on a legal service page, it needs to answer the questions that determine whether they contact the firm.
What can the solicitor do? What happens next? Who will handle the matter? What experience does the team have? How can the visitor get in touch?
Good SEO gets somebody to the page. The page still has to persuade them to make contact.
High-Quality Legal Content
There is already an enormous amount of legal content online, and AI has made it easier than ever to produce more of it.
Simply adding another generic article isn’t enough.
We create high quality content around how people actually search for legal help. That can include service pages, location pages, FAQs and supporting articles.
We also encourage firms to contribute genuine practitioner insight wherever possible. Clients do not need another rewritten explanation of legislation that could appear on any solicitor’s website. They want practical information, answers to their questions and a sense that the firm understands the problem they are facing.
Write for the person instructing you, not the lawyers you’re trying to impress.
Local SEO for Law Firms
Location remains important for many legal services. Someone looking for a family solicitor, criminal lawyer or private client solicitor may specifically search within their town or city, and Google’s local results can heavily influence which firms they consider.
Our local SEO work can include Google Business Profile optimisation, reviews, location research, local service pages and improving the relationship between a firm’s website and the areas it genuinely serves.
We don’t recommend producing dozens of almost identical pages with the town name changed. Good local content should have a genuine purpose and accurately reflect the firm’s services, people and presence in that location.

Keyword Research Based on Search Intent
One of the first questions we ask a new client is, what type of work do you actually want more of?

Equally, the keyword with the highest search volume is not automatically the most valuable. Our SEO strategies therefore start with the firm’s priorities and work backwards.
SEO, AI Search and Changing Client Behaviour
Search is changing. Google increasingly answers some questions directly within its results, while people are also using AI tools to research legal problems and find businesses.
We’ve already seen enquiries where businesses have been discovered through AI-generated results rather than a conventional Google listing.
That doesn’t mean SEO is disappearing. Clear service pages, useful content, authority and technical accessibility still help search engines and AI systems understand what a business does.
For law firms, visibility is simply becoming broader than traditional Google rankings.
What Happens When You Work With BSD?
We first discuss where your work currently comes from, which services you want to grow and how quickly you want more instructions.
We then review your website, competitors, existing rankings, content and technical performance. From there, we usually develop an initial three-to-six-month plan based on the opportunities we identify.
That might include technical fixes, improving existing service pages, creating missing content, strengthening internal linking or developing local visibility.
We then monitor performance and speak to clients regularly about what is actually happening with enquiries.
If rankings improve but enquiries don’t, we want to understand why. If a particular service starts generating good work, we can build on it. The strategy should adapt rather than continuing with the same activity because it appeared in a plan six months earlier.
Frequently Asked Questions About Law Firm SEO
How long does SEO take for a law firm?
There is no fixed timescale. It depends on the website's starting position, competition, authority, technical condition and the searches being targeted. We generally plan the first three to six months of work and assess progress from there. SEO is an ongoing process, but it can take 3-6 months to start seeing any meaningful results.
Can SEO generate clients for law firms?
Yes. SEO can help a law firm appear when people search for relevant services. However, rankings alone don't create clients. The website must also build trust and make it easy for suitable visitors to become enquiries.
Should law firms use SEO or PPC?
Often, both work well together. PPC can provide more immediate visibility while SEO builds longer-term organic visibility. The right balance depends on how quickly the firm wants work and the budget available.
Does a law firm need to publish lots of articles?
No. Sometimes improving service pages and fixing technical problems is more important than creating new content. We recommend publishing new content where there is a clear reason for it.
How do you measure law firm SEO?
We monitor rankings, traffic, impressions and landing-page performance, but we also want to understand enquiry numbers and quality. Ultimately, SEO should help the firm generate more of the work it wants.
Why choose BSD as your law firm SEO agency?
BSD works exclusively within the legal sector and combines legal-sector experience with SEO, content, PPC, website and conversion expertise. Our strategies are built around the work the firm wants rather than traffic for traffic's sake.
